The method

How the score works

Measured, not guessed. The app measures your frame from three photos, and a fixed formula turns the measurements into scores.

The same photo always gives the same score. The AI writes your coaching notes; it never sets a number. Here's every step, and what a photo scan can't do well.

Where your score comes from
Geometry Widths and angles measured from your photos.
Fixed formula The same measurements always give the same score.
Zone scores 0 to 100 for each zone, and your V-Taper Score.

From photos to measurements

A scan is three photos: front, side and back. Line up with the guides and each photo takes itself.

Your face is blurred on your phone before anything is uploaded. The copies we receive are analyzed in memory, then deleted. They aren't stored on our servers, logged or seen by a person.

From the front and side photos, the app finds body landmarks and your outline, and measures widths and angles: your shoulders, waist and neck, and how you stand. Each one is a ratio or an angle, so it doesn't matter how far away the phone was or how big the photo is.

Your photos

No photos or body measurements are ever sent to analytics. Your originals stay on your phone, and your data is never used to train AI.

From measurements to scores

A fixed formula turns each measurement into a zone score from 0 to 100. Nothing in it is random and nothing is learned from you, so the same measurements always give the same scores.

Your V-Taper Score combines the zone scores. Shoulders and waist count most, because they're the two halves of your taper ratio: shoulder width over waist width. Your weakest zone is the lowest-scoring one, and that's where your plan starts.

On the women's path, four zones are scored (shoulders, lats, waist and posture) against women's own reference ranges. Traps and neck are still measured, as posture and safety zones, but they don't count in the V-Taper Score and are never the weakest zone.

What the AI does

The AI coach reads your scan numbers, never your body photos, and writes your notes from them. It never sets or changes a score.

Scores are labelled an AI estimate, not a medical measurement.

What each zone is measured from

The scan has no landmark for lats or traps, so those two are estimates from the outline. Neck and traps are small targets in a photo taken about 2 m away.

Shoulders

Your shoulder width in the front photo, compared with your body's height from shoulders to hips.

Shoulders guide

Lats

An estimate: the angle of the line from your shoulders down to your waist in the front photo. There's no lat landmark, so it moves with your waist too.

Lats guide

Traps

An estimate: how wide your neck is compared with your shoulders, in the front photo. It's one of the roughest readings from 2 m away.

Traps guide

Neck

Your neck's width in the front photo, compared with your height from shoulders to hips. A small target from 2 m away, so it's rough.

Neck guide

Waist

Your waist at its smallest, between your lowest ribs and your hips, in the front photo, compared with your height from shoulders to hips. A smaller waist scores higher.

Waist guide

Posture

How far your head sits forward and how rounded your shoulders are (side photo), and whether your shoulders are level and your sides match (front photo), blended into one score.

The ± margin, and why trends take time

Every scan has some noise: lighting, clothing, how you stand and how you hold the phone. So the app shows your taper ratio with a ± margin, and one week's change is never treated as meaningful.

Your waist trend appears at 6 scans, counting your sign-up scan, so at your 5th weekly check-in. Shoulder and neck changes over 12 weeks are smaller than the scan can see, so they stay estimates.

Exact numbers: tape mode

For exact numbers, the app has an optional tape-measure mode. Save your tape numbers with each weekly scan, next to the photo estimates, and your plan uses the tape number where you have one.

What a photo scan can't do well

  • Neck and traps are small in a photo taken about 2 m away, so their scores are rough.

  • The lat score moves with your waist: it's an estimate of back width, not a direct measurement.

  • Light, loose clothing, phone tilt and where you hold your head can move a score between scans. Line up with the guides the same way each time.

  • There are no published repeatability numbers for the app's scan yet, so read single scans as estimates.

  • It doesn't measure body fat, health or fitness. It's an AI estimate, not a medical measurement.
